O2 Spa's small pleasures

Whenever friends would try to make me drunk, I always bring them to O2 Spa. That small place in The Strip at the Capitol area in Cebu boasts a regular stream of young and yuppie customers from the nearby UNO.

The beer is cheap. The food above the ordinary. And the chef, a cute little lady with nice dimples, is the daughter of Felix, the owner. Being a chef and an owner make a whole lot of difference.

New to their menu is the Beef Quesadillas (PhP115), a hauntingly beautiful mix of beef and spices put in-between a big pita bread. The only bad thing I saw from the serving were those small plastic cups of small amount of salsa like they were not keen on serving them at all.

But if you insists, the quesadillas are good for drunks who would no longer care. Unless you really are for good taste.

A new experience at Jo's Chicken Inato

There is a good improvement at Jo's Chicken Inato at their Capitol Branch in The Boulevard. I actually blogged about their slow service in January 2008 (see this link: Jo's Chicken Inato is Consistent) and have been going back to that place quite satisfied.

Fikri and I have been there for about four times already, and last night Wrecks and I went to eat there again. Upon seating, a waiter readily took our order and informed us that it would take about 10-15 minutes for our order to come. That was actually good. A year ago, they would not answer you if you ask them where was your order.

I ordered for a baked scallops and was surprised to see only six of them forming a circle in a native tray and their signature papaya salad on the center. Well- with the price of just 88 pesos, I am very sure nobody would dare serve them in a dozen or two. But honestly their scallops tasted better than that of AA Barbecue.

We also ordered tinolang isda which was actually good. I love it when they put string beans in the soup. Reminded me of the way Mother would have her version of tinola in the house. I was wishing there was ginamos and lemonsito for the batong. The adobong kangkong was nice too.

But the grilled chicken was quite raw to my taste, some parts still reddishly raw to consume. But I did not complain. It was a new experience for me at Jo's.

We paid only 420 pesos for the tinola, scallops, 2 chicken set, kangkong and drinks of green mango shake and hot calamansi juice.

So very Filipino

We were craving for beer and wanting to check on the new tambayan here in Cebu called The Strip. The former Food Street now renovated and spanky clean has a 24-hour store and crowds of young professionals and students frequent the area. It used to be a smelly place near the Capitol building but we heard it was foreclosed and now the bank is managing the area.

Well- when we arrived there, some moneyed patrons, judging from the cars that parked there, have already convereged on the area. We barely have a table and seats available.

We have consumed about ten bottles of the newly introduced San Miguel Premium All Malt beer when the sudden urge of the call of nature, also known as peeing, a result from the beers that bloated us, was inevitable. I asked the counter girl where can I go. She told me to ask the guard.

The guard was nowhere to be found so I sat still. When he appeared I was more than happy. Smiling, I asked him the directions to the comfort rooms. He told me plainly, Wala man mi CR diri sir [We have no CRs here sir]. Sa kilid-kild lang sir. [Just pee on the sides].

Well-

Rainy Days and Sundays

I became a frog today.

It was raining outside and I have to leap and play so to speak. I hate staying at home when the rain pours. So took a bath I did. Got out from my room that has served me as my shell. (Wait. Di ba palaka ako?) Walked the road, I mean hopped the road that has always been traveled and trampled. From Capitol Site to Fuente-OsmeƱa I did walk.

Despite the rain.

Nice feeling, indeed. Yeah despite the rain, it was nice. Wetty. Slippery. Clingy.

Had Beef Wanton at Chowking. Juice. The crew constantly erasing my presence. Then off to Robinson's. Bought fruits and toothpaste. Pa-cute. Window shopped at Handyman. After a while went home and started walking (hopping actually because I was a frog that day) again.

Got home tired. Perspiring but inspired. Rested. Scratched.

Damn! Got itchy feet instead! Ewww.
